Skattebøl Fjellgard is an old farm with history back from the viking ages. Whether you come to stay at the farm or one of the mountain cabins (støl) belonging to the farm, you will have the pleasure of living amidst buildings dating back to the 1600 hundreds.
Inside the main building, painted in white and with pink framing of doorsandwindows, original paintings of Nils Bæra, one of Hallingda’s famous painters, are found on the wall and doors.
The farm also owns its own hunting ground and fishing waters, those interested in hunting and fishing can contact.
The farm also has accommodation, one can live in ‘Kårstua’ on the farm itself that sleeps four. This is a small cozy 18th-century living room, with a bedroom and a loft with two beds. The fireplace in the living room is cozy on cold evenings.
If you want more peace and quiet, you can rent one of the farm’s old cabins, Nyset, which has recently been refurbished to a high standard. Nyset is located at about 1000m.o.h with great opportunities for hiking in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. There is also a hot tub overlooking Hallingskarvet and Skogshorn. Stølen is 20 minutes drive from the farm.
The farm is located approximately 3 hours drive from Oslo, midway between Oslo and Bergen. The twon is called Ål, belonging to the region Hallingdal, known for good skiing and snow conditions in the winter. Summertime there are miles of mountains, wide and hiking terrain to romp in.
